“Finding TikTok trends” usually means opening the app and scrolling, hoping to catch a sound or a format that keeps coming back. It works, but late: by the time you see it, plenty of other accounts have already picked up on it. A trend detection tool flips the approach. Instead of waiting for a national ranking to confirm a trend, you look at which accounts in your niche are outperforming, and with which format. There’s no guarantee you’ll be first, but this signal often shows up earlier and speaks more directly to your audience.

What to look for in a TikTok trend tool

A signal drawn from your niche’s data, not a generic ranking. “National” trends (TikTok Creative Center, Google Trends) are useful but late: they aggregate an entire country, across every topic. A trend in your cooking or personal finance niche can emerge weeks before it appears in a general ranking.

The ability to catch several weak signals converging. An emerging trend rarely shows up on a single account. You see it when three or four accounts in a watchlist post videos a few days apart that clearly beat their own norm, all in a similar format.

Frequent updates. A TikTok trend has a short life cycle, often a few days to a few weeks. A tool that refreshes its data once a month arrives too late.

Context to go with the number. Knowing that a sound or format is “rising” isn’t enough: you need to understand why (a hook, an angle, the way it’s staged) so you can adapt it to your own content without blindly copying it.

How we chose

We picked tools that give a usable trend signal, across four approaches: the official national ranking (TikTok Creative Center); exploring outlier videos that are already indexed (Virlo, with its keyword search, and Sandcastles); tracking hashtags and sounds (Exolyt, which adds sentiment analysis); and tracking the accounts you choose (Creadar, which detects outliers against each account’s median, and Shortimize, which focuses on performance tracking more than trend detection). Prices are as of October 2026. Creadar is our product: we rated it with the same criteria as the other tools, and its limits are listed in its card.

The best TikTok trend detection tools

Creadar

Trend signals within your own niche

  • Instagram
  • TikTok
  • YouTube Shorts
  • Starting price €18/month

Creadar doesn’t offer a national trend ranking. You build a watchlist of comparable accounts (direct competitors, sources of inspiration), and it surfaces, account by account, the videos whose views or engagement reach 3 times the median of their creator’s last 20 eligible videos. When several accounts post such videos in a similar format, you have a signal.

Best for Creators and social media managers who have already picked their niche and want to spot the formats taking off in it

Strengths

  • A signal specific to your niche instead of a diluted national ranking
  • Multi-platform watchlists (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts)
  • Daily collection of the tracked accounts
  • Engagement rate calculated to separate a video that gets passive views from one that drives real interaction

Limitations

  • Only works on the accounts you track, with no keyword search across TikTok
  • No database of millions of pre-indexed videos like Virlo or Sandcastles
  • New product

Pricing Starter at €18/month (10 tracked creators), Creator at €35/month (30 creators), Pro at €95/month (100 creators). One-time free preview of 3 accounts, no credit card required. Public pricing, October 2026

Videos from the Marketing watchlist in Creadar since October 13, 2026, filtered to videos above 3 times their creator’s median in views or engagement
“Marketing and social media” watchlist: videos above 3 times their creator’s median in views or engagement, posted between October 13 and 19, 2026.

In one week, @williamangora posted eight videos whose views topped 3 times the median of his last 20 videos. Six of them follow the same format: talking to the camera, with one direct tip about content creation (titles translated from French: “Stop looking for the perfect video idea”, “What hooks do you use in your content?”). At this stage, it’s a format that works for one account, worth watching for on the other accounts in the niche: if it starts producing outliers for them too, you have a trend.

You want to search by keyword in a massive existing database, without building your own watchlist: Virlo.

You want a trend and a ready-made script in the same tool: Sandcastles.

You’re a brand tracking sentiment around an industry trend: Exolyt, whose Advanced plan includes sentiment analysis.

You just want a free snapshot of national trends to confirm a signal: TikTok Creative Center, used alongside a niche tool.

Spotting a trend early won’t help much if you don’t know when to post your video or how to tell whether it really caught on: see also our articles on the best time to post on TikTok and the TikTok algorithm in 2026.
