“Social media monitoring tool” covers two very different families of products, and mixing them up costs time and money. On one side are social listening and brand reputation tools, built to track what people say about a brand. On the other are creator-focused competitor monitoring tools, built to follow posts from comparable accounts and spot what outperforms. This roundup covers both and spells out who each tool is really for.

What to look for in a social media monitoring tool
A clear use case before you look at features. A massive brand monitoring tool like Brandwatch will never help a creator spot a competitor’s video that’s outperforming; on the flip side, Creadar doesn’t measure sentiment around a brand in the press. Defining your need first keeps you from paying for features you won’t use.
A relative comparison instead of a raw ranking, for content-focused monitoring: a video with 50,000 views can be a flop for a big account and a breakout for a small one. A good tool compares each post with its own creator’s usual baseline.
Coverage of the right platforms. Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts for short-form content; press, forums and customer reviews on top of that for brand reputation.
Transparent pricing or, failing that, a straight answer on the real budget. Several long-standing tools in this space publish no public pricing and only sell on custom quotes, which is worth knowing before you contact them.
How we chose
We sorted the tools into three groups: creator-focused monitoring (Creadar), classic social listening and brand reputation tools used in France by brands and agencies (Mention, Brandwatch, Talkwalker, Visibrain, Digimind), and two multi-network management tools with competitor tracking (Agorapulse, Metricool). Prices are as of October 2026. Creadar is our product: we rated it with the same criteria as the other tools, and its limits are listed in its card.
The tools
Creadar
Competitor monitoring built for creators
- TikTok
- YouTube Shorts
- Starting price €18/month
Creadar tracks the accounts in your niche (direct competitors, inspiration accounts) on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts and automatically surfaces the videos that outperform. Each tracked creator has their own medians, calculated on their last 20 eligible videos; a post becomes an outlier when its views or engagement reach 3 times its creator’s median, a threshold relative to each account rather than an absolute number. Engagement ((likes + comments) ÷ views × 100) is calculated for every video, and the data is refreshed every day.
Best for Content creators, coaches and social media managers who want to track a specific niche to find ideas
Strengths
- A signal specific to your niche instead of a market average
- Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts watchlists in one interface
- Engagement calculated automatically
- Read-only connector for Claude and ChatGPT on the Creator and Pro plans
Limitations
- No keyword search or account discovery: Creadar only analyzes accounts added to a watchlist
- No AI script or video generation
- No brand reputation module (sentiment, press mentions)
- Relatively new product
Pricing Starter at €18/month (10 tracked creators), Creator at €35/month (30 creators), Pro at €95/month (100 creators). One-time free preview of 3 accounts, no credit card required. Public pricing, October 2026

The badge on each video shows what breaks from the norm: views, engagement or both. The first video from @frenchstartupper beats its median on both views (3.4x) and engagement (5.3x): that’s the strongest signal, the one worth studying first.
